When Anne and David suggested we head over to The Lodge at St. Edward Park for their Washington engagement session, I was stoked to get to go somewhere new! The Lodge at St. Edward Park is an absolutely gorgeous restored building next to 326 acres of forest land. Originally built in the 1930s on nearby land, this historic building has a claim to fame as a historic seminary for 45 years.

Not only are they part of your family and should absolutely be included, but they can also give you a chance to feel more at ease in front of the camera! (and I get to smoosh their little face the entire time!) When I started chatting with Sam and Tyler, we knew we had to include their German Shepherd, Milo.

After a few conversations about the best location to go to accommodate their two dogs, Lexi and Smoky, we decided on The Trading Post Trail outside of the Red Rock Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado. I absolutely love photographing at this location, as the trademark red rock formations are a photographer’s dream!

Not only is Montrose Harbor dog friendly, which is a must when you’re bringing your four-legged family member, but it also has some incredible views of the Chicago skyline. Located on the northern edge of Lincoln Park, Montrose Harbor is a short walk from Montrose Beach.

Read MoreSometimes California pulls out all of the stops, and that was definitely the case for Jenn and Stuart’s sunset engagement session at Leo Carrillo State Beach. Not only did we get a picture perfect sunset, their son SJ even joined us for a few spur of the moment family photos. While I don’t work full time in California any longer, trips like these sure make me miss the weather- and dare I say it, even the beach.
Read MoreThere is absolutely no better way to spend an engagement session at Guanella Pass then by bringing your dog and a picnic blanket- and of course going in the fall. Maggie and Jon knew they wanted those magic fall colors for our meetup, so we watched the weather and we were rewarded immensely by the verdant yellow colors. With Bear in tow, we were stoked to go on a short little journey and be able to not only see the trees this area is so famous for, but immerse ourselves in them!
Read MoreAfter going over their favorite places in the city for their engagement session, Charlotte and Stephen decided on the Lincoln Park Nature Boardwalk (as it just so happened to be across the street from their house), and the lakeside North Avenue Beach. Funny enough, two nights prior I had a similar itinerary when hanging out with Maria and Matt! What I absolutely love about photographing in the city of Chicago, is just how different every location can look depending on not only the season you go there, but also the day.

I met up with Elise and Eric for their stand up paddle boarding (SUP ) engagement session at Chatfield State Park in Littleton, Colorado. This beautiful park centers on the expansive reservoir fed by the South Platte river and boasts views of rolling hills and abundant wildlife. While all that would normally be my focus when out at such a place, my task today was to capture Elise and Eric in their true element for their engagement session!

With a portion of Eran’s family traveling from overseas, they had to postpone till the next year while waiting for international travel restrictions to lift- which I totally get. Read MoreMeeting Sarah and Jake at Red Rocks Park in Morrison, Co for their engagement session was the perfect snowy beginning to our future relationship. There is not much better than a quick snow storm and 20 degree temperatures to bring everyone just a little bit closer, including these two sweet souls for their engagement pictures! After countless reschedules involving beautiful locations all over Colorado, we were blocked at every turn from restrictions, colossal snowstorms, and schedules. Luckily for us, we finally found a time and a location we could meet at, and the winter weather was definitely in our favor- even if it was just a bit chilly.
Read MoreWhen I had my first phone call with Jordyn and Matt, I knew that they were two humans I was going to love working with. They were on a last minute vacation with their family, shouting above the background noise to schedule an engagement session at Treasure Island Beach in Laguna Hills. Even though we were not blessed with a typical California sunset, Jordyn and Matt lit up the area with their shining personalities, and obvious love for each other.
