Colorado Winter Engagement Session | Callie and Ben

It’s not every year that we get winter in May, but that’s exactly what Callie and Ben were gifted during their Colorado engagement session. As we met up outside the Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, snow was already coming down at The Trading Post Trail, and we embraced it.

The Trading Post Trail: A Dream Location for Red Rocks Engagement Photos

After chatting about dog-friendly locations for their session, we landed on The Trading Post Trail at Red Rocks Amphitheater, which winds just beneath the iconic red rock formations. It’s a dream location for photography, and the snow made it even more magical. Ironically, the last time I photographed here (for Sarah and Jake’s session), it also snowed. I think we’ve started a very cold tradition.

Dog-Friendly Red Rocks Amphitheater Engagement

Callie and Ben brought along their two pups, Lexi and Smoky, for the adventure. As the snow kept falling, we started with a cautious umbrella, but these two quickly tossed it aside and leaned into the snowy magic. Smoky loved every second of the weather. Lexi… not so much. I’ll let you guess who was who.

Outfit Inspiration for a Snowy Red Rocks Engagement Session

For their first outfit, Callie and Ben went formal. Callie wore a curve-hugging navy dress with an elephant necklace, while Ben matched her in a navy button-up and black jacket. Lexi even joined in the style moment with a white sweater and pink skirt. Eventually, the chill set in, and they changed into more casual (and cozy) outfits. I always recommend bringing multiple looks to a session, it adds great variety, especially when we’re sticking to one location.

To top it off, they brought a colorful blanket from home. We did some wrapped-up shots that were not only cute but extra meaningful. While I have a few go-to blankets on hand, nothing beats a keepsake that already belongs to you.

Why I Loved This Red Rocks Amphitheater Engagement

I loved how Callie and Ben fully embraced the unexpected winter vibes for their Red Rocks engagement session. Between the falling snow, the iconic scenery, and their sweet pups, it was the perfect mix of adventure and personality. I can’t wait to see them again soon, hopefully with more love, more laughs, and definitely more time with Lexi and Smoky.
