Saint Edward State Park Engagement Session | Anne and David

When Anne and David suggested we head over to The Lodge at St. Edward Park for their Washington engagement session, I was stoked to get to go somewhere new! The Lodge at St. Edward Park is an absolutely gorgeous restored building next to 326 acres of forest land. Originally built in the 1930s on nearby land, this historic building has a claim to fame as a historic seminary for 45 years. It was then sold along with its’ surrounding lands to become what we all know and love as Saint Edward State Park. Nestled on the eastern shore of Lake Washington, the historic brick building still stands strong and is an absolutely incredible place to take some Washington engagement photos!

The Lodge at St. Edward Park boasts some pretty incredible architecture at their front door, where we started Anne and David’s engagement session with their dog. They started their photo shoot with coordinating formal attire, and before changing, we decided to go inside for some images with The Lodge at St. Edward’s Park’s personal art gallery! The Gallery of Fine Arts hosts local art inspired by the surrounding nature of Saint Edward State Park. They also host an Artist in Residence series, with local artists rotating art down the hallway! As a photographer, this really makes for some exciting Washington engagement photos that are new every time you visit!

Afterwards, Anne and David decided to change into a more casual outfit, which was only fitting as we were going for a short hike into the Saint Edward State Park. I’m new to the beauty of engagement sessions in the PNW, but I have to say I’m already swooning over the picturesque trails and trees. After a few dips and kisses in the waning sunset, we walked down to the Saint Edward State Park Grotto. This garden alcove was historically used for prayer and meditation when The Lodge at St. Edward Park was a Catholic Seminary, but nowadays it hosts small wedding ceremonies and, of course, the occasional St. Edward State Park engagement session.

We ended our evening together walking back to The Lodge at St. Edward Park, and we couldn’t help but take a few more grand images with the sprawling architecture behind the couple. It’s hard not to love a brick building on a beautiful piece of property, and I absolutely cannot wait to come back and explore Saint Edward State Park some more! We didn’t even make it down to the shoreline of Lake Washington, something Saint Edward State Park is known for!

Let me know if you want to have an engagement session adventure in this gorgeous forest area or check out the rotating art installations at The Lodge at St. Edward Park. Or if you’ve booked an intimate wedding ceremony at the St. Edward State Park Grotto!
