Saint Edward State Park Engagement Session | Anne and David
When Anne and David suggested we head over to The Lodge at St. Edward Park for their Washington engagement session, I was stoked to get to go somewhere new!
The Lodge at St. Edward Park is an absolutely gorgeous restored building next to 326 acres of forest land. Originally built in the 1930s on nearby land, this historic building has a claim to fame as a historic seminary for 45 years. It was then sold along with its’ surrounding lands to become what we all know and love as Saint Edward State Park. Nestled on the eastern shore of Lake Washington, the historic brick building still stands strong and is an absolutely incredible place to take some Washington engagement photos!
The Perfect Start to the Session at the Lodge at St. Edward Park
Anne and David’s engagement session began at the Lodge at St. Edward Park, where we took advantage of the stunning architecture at the front door. They brought their dog along for the shoot, making it even more personal and fun! The couple’s formal attire was perfect for the venue, and before we changed outfits, we took a few pictures inside the Lodge’s Gallery of Fine Arts. This art gallery features local artwork inspired by the natural beauty of Saint Edward State Park, and it rotates artists through an Artist in Residence program, making each visit feel unique and fresh. As a photographer, this really makes for some exciting Washington engagement photos that are new every time you visit!
After some beautiful indoor shots, Anne and David changed into more casual attire for a short hike through Saint Edward State Park. The park’s trails and towering trees provided the perfect setting for romantic, candid photos as the couple shared kisses and enjoyed each other’s company during the waning sunlight. The natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest never disappoints!
Saint Edward State Park Grotto
We ended our evening at the Saint Edward State Park Grotto, a serene garden alcove that was once used for prayer and meditation during the time the lodge was a Catholic Seminary. Today, the Grotto serves as a peaceful spot for small wedding ceremonies, and of course, it’s also an ideal location for engagement sessions. The tranquil surroundings of the grotto made for some breathtaking, intimate moments between Anne and David, if you don’t count the squirrels of course.
We ended our evening together walking back to The Lodge at St. Edward Park, and we couldn’t help but take a few more grand images with the sprawling architecture behind the couple. It’s hard not to love a brick building on a beautiful piece of property, and I absolutely cannot wait to come back and explore Saint Edward State Park some more! We didn’t even make it down to the shoreline of Lake Washington, something Saint Edward State Park is known for!
