Creek-side Engagement Session in Carnation, Washington | Laura and Tyler
Laura and Tyler’s engagement session in Carnation, Washington integrated the sparkling Snoqualmie river, a farm at golden hour, and their dog, Avery!
“He is so easy to be around. I feel like I’ve known him forever,” said Laura about Tyler. “It doesn’t matter if we are just running errands, it’s better with him.”
How Laura and Tyler’s Heartfelt Engagement Story Came Full Circle on Richmond Beach
Their love story started with a first date in January 2022 and a proposal just about a year later! On Laura’s birthday, she wanted to see the orcas migrating in the Puget Sound. Little did she know, Tyler had a proposal planned. They spent the day chasing the whales around, unable to see them. And while this might have resulted in a disappointing day for Laura, it was on Richmond Beach that Tyler dropped to one knee and asked Laura to marry him. And the day could definitely not be disappointing after that!
Engagement Photos with a View: Tolt MacDonald Park, Snoqualmie Rive and Carnation Farms
For their engagement session, we started at Tolt MacDonald Park in the stunning Snoqualmie Valley. First, we headed for the 500-foot suspension footbridge over the Snoqualmie River. This wooden bridge has great views of the river below. We also snapped some adorable photos with their dog Avery.
For the second location, we went down to the river to play fetch with Avery, who loved swimming into the river to catch a frisbee. This was a great way to get the couple and their pet smiling and laughing, with photos that show them how they naturally look together. As a documentary-style photographer, I love giving clients an action to take, like playing with their dog in the river, and just capturing what happens. I find that the most natural photos emerge this way, with great natural smiles!
After our trip down to the river, Laura and Tyler did an outfit change out of their casual blue jeans into a pink dress for Laura and a collared shirt and khaki shorts for Tyler. We went to our third location, an overlook above Carnation Farms to watch the sunset and soak in every last bit of golden hour. They danced around on the gravel path with the beautiful grasses and hay waving behind them.
The moment was truly magical, and I could feel how excited these two were to be married!
