Hanging out with Alexa and Joshua for their Rosario Beach engagement session was definitely a special kind of treat—especially since they introduced me to this absolutely stunning location! On the southwest side of Fidalgo Island, Rosario Beach is part of Deception Pass State Park in Anacortes, Washington. Known as one of Washington’s most visited state parks, Deception Pass State Park is home to 3,854 acres and 77,000 feet of shoreline. Rosario Beach is part of that shoreline and an excellent location for an engagement session! You wouldn’t know it until you visited, but it boasts several historic structures, including a totem pole carving.

Alexa and Joshua decided to start their engagement session at the Rosario Beach cove and public dock, which was such a fun experience in the beautiful PNW nature. I love how these two coordinated their outfits, with Alexa wearing a blue patterned dress and Joshua matching with a blue button-up shirt—not to mention how it brought out the color of the nearby ocean! Personally, though, my absolute favorite part of Rosario Beach is the fact that it is mostly rock (and not sand!). I am a sucker for some good rock beaches, and Rosario Beach absolutely delivered.

After hanging out at the Rosario Beach dock and, of course, spending some time frolicking on the beach, we made our way up the Rosario Head Trail to get an overlook of the area. I love when my couples are adventurous and willing to go exploring, even if it is a short walk. I am a firm believer that it does not take a 10-mile hike to get somewhere incredible, and the view from Rosario Head is a perfect example. If you’re lucky (which we weren’t!), you might even see some orcas, porpoises, or a gray whale from this viewpoint.

As the sun started to set, we headed back down to the Rosario Beach cove to finish up. A few last dances and kisses by the setting sun, and I would call Alexa and Joshua’s Rosario Beach engagement session a success! By that time, I had absolutely fallen in love with this secluded beach area (although I can’t imagine it being this quiet all the time) and am now desperately hoping for more engagement sessions at Rosario Beach and surrounding areas! Apparently on the other side of the bend is Bowman Bay, and while we didn’t get a chance to check it out, it is presumably just as beautiful without the dock.
