Overcast Chicago Engagement Session | Maria and Matt

I loved getting to meet up with Maria and Matt for their Chicago engagement session, and explore a city they both have known their whole lives. Maria and Matt have been together since the beginning of high school and 11 years later decided it was time to make it official! No proposal is without some sort of stress, and Matt was definitely part of the gang while he patiently waited for the ring to come in- after already planning a proposal date! He knew that Maria wanted a photographer, and timed it around their family holiday photos, ensuring that the moment would be captured. My personal favorite part of their proposal story, is the fact that Matt spent every spare moment practicing to items that were as tall as Maria! Matt didn’t want to be nervous, but in true proposal fashion, Maria doesn’t even remember what happened after he got down on one knee. The one thing we all do know is, she said yes! And I am so happy to get to be a part of their relationship journey.

We started our session at the Lincoln Park Boardwalk, where Maria and Matt donned some casual fall attire. It may have been Fall, but we weren’t lucky enough to get the incredible fall colors that the boardwalk is occasionally known for, like Alex and Brian did for their Lincoln Park Boardwalk engagement session.

Afterwards, we went over to North Avenue Beach, and walked along the lake front. Even though we missed fall, Maria and Matt were lucky to just barely miss a rainstorm through this ever-changing city, and instead were blessed with an incredible amount of Chicago skyline reflections. They say the weather is never boring in Chicago, and they are absolutely right!

It will be a blast to get to hang out with these two and their families at Venuti’s Italian Restaurant & Banquet Hall and even visit the spot they got engaged for their portraits!
