Folsom Lake Family Session | Stahl Family

family of 5 hangs out in tree outcrop for family photos

I always love meeting up with the Stahl family year after year—and it’s made even sweeter knowing our journey started before they were even married. Watching families grow and change over time is such a gift, and this session at Folsom Lake was no exception.

Folsom Lake: A Homecoming of Sorts

This year’s location choice was the Folsom Lake Marina, a spot full of beauty even if the water levels aren’t what they used to be. Nestled along the American River, Folsom Lake is a reservoir that offers everything from hiking and boating to peaceful lakeside views. I grew up driving past this lake every day, so it always feels like coming home when I get to photograph here.

We started our session near a quiet outcrop of trees, giving the sun a chance to dip lower in the sky before making our way down to the shoreline. By the time we reached the water, we had the space to ourselves—and the sunset gave us a beautiful golden glow and some incredible reflections.

It’s wild to see how fast the Stahl kids are growing. Every year brings new energy, new personalities, and new moments to capture. I already can’t wait to see them again and photograph the next chapter.
