Paddle Boarding (SUP) Engagement Session in Colorado | Elise and Eric

Did an engagement session with a paddle board enthusiast really happen if you didn’t go paddle boarding? I think not. I met up with Elise and Eric for their stand up paddle boarding (SUP ) engagement session at Chatfield State Park in Littleton, Colorado. This beautiful park centers on the expansive reservoir fed by the South Platte river and boasts views of rolling hills and abundant wildlife. While all that would normally be my focus when out at such a place, my task today was to capture Elise and Eric in their true element for their engagement session!

Elise has been paddle boarding for the past 5 years and has participated in quite a few SUP 5k’s (yes those are actually a thing!) for her skills in the water. When Eric entered the picture, Elise invited him into her world, and the rest is history for these two paddle boarding fools. Styling their outfits to the color of their paddle boards, Elise started the session off with an off-white bathing with Eric in matching swim trunks. I started this incredible session from the sidelines, following these two on dry land as they paddled across Chatfield Reservoir. I’ve only been on a paddle board once, and it was such a blast to watch Elise and Eric stay in tune with the current.

After a quick outfit change (with them still matching!), I decided to join Elise and Eric in the water for some more up close action. We decided to also transition to one paddle board so they could also get a little bit closer as the sun began to set! I can’t say that it was my initial plan to end up fully submerged in the water, (I would have remembered to bring a towel), but I would not change it for the world! With Elise keeping their paddle board straight, they shared a memorable drink together at sunset. 

What these pictures do not show, besides me swimming with a camera above my head, is how incredible these two humans are. I cannot wait to photograph Elise and Eric at their campground wedding in Bond, Colorado later this year. (These pictures also do not show the towel they let me borrow before driving home- my car thanks you!)
