Rocky Mountain National Park Winter Session | Alyssa May and Michael
When Alyssa May and Michael of LaBanca Productions reached out about needing updated branding photos and headshots, I was absolutely honored. I first met this talented videography duo during Becca and Mike’s gorgeous fall wedding, and was instantly drawn to their thoughtful, caring nature. Since then, we've become fast friends, and I was over the moon when we teamed up again for Amanda and Brian’s wedding in downtown Chicago.
So when they said they wanted something fun, fresh, and totally them for their next branding session, we packed up our gear (and snow boots!) and headed to one of my favorite places: Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado.
Winter Branding Photography at Rocky Mountain National Park’s Sheep Lakes
LaBanca Productions is based in Indiana, but Alyssa May had visited Colorado once before and absolutely fell in love with the wide open mountain views—aka, the complete opposite of flat Midwest landscapes! So when it came time for an adventurous rebrand session, Rocky Mountain National Park was the obvious choice.
We kicked off our shoot on the frozen lake bed of Sheep Lakes, greeted by sweeping views of Horseshoe Park. Though the area is named for the bighorn sheep that typically roam the hillsides, the weather was a bit too blustery for wildlife sightings. Still, the dramatic backdrop of snow-covered peaks set the tone for an incredible shoot.
Trail Ridge Road Winter Photo Shoot in Rocky Mountain National Park
After Sheep Lakes, we made our way up Trail Ridge Road, a scenic route famously known as the “highway to the sky.” While winter road closures eventually halted our journey, that didn’t stop Alyssa May and Michael from embracing the adventure. We detoured to a nearby rock formation, climbed (carefully!) into position, and were rewarded with an epic view of Colorado’s snow-capped Rocky Mountains.
Of course, it wouldn't be a proper winter session without ending up knee-deep in snow. These two creatives were champs, wading off the path to a perfectly snow-covered log for some cozy, windswept shots.
Working with fellow creatives is always such a joy. As a photographer, I know how rare it is for folks in the wedding industry to step in front of the lens themselves. But these kinds of branding sessions in Rocky Mountain National Park are the perfect way to tell the story of who you are—not just what you do.
LaBanca Productions is known for their heartfelt, cinematic storytelling, and I wanted every frame of this session to reflect that same warmth and energy.
Looking Ahead to More Adventures Together
I get to team up with LaBanca Productions again later this year for a wedding in Chicago, and you know I’ll be counting down the days until we’re cracking jokes and chasing good light once more. Alyssa May and Michael, thank you for trusting me with your vision and for diving headfirst into the snow with me. You’re the best kind of adventure crew.
Whether you're a fellow wedding vendor, small business owner, or creative entrepreneur, branding sessions are the perfect way to tell your story, with images that actually feel like you. From snowy mountains to downtown streets, I’d love to help capture your magic. Let’s make some photo gold together, possibly even at RMNP in the snow!
xx,
Jennifer Lourie
