Woman Empowerment Portrait Session in Rocky Mountain National Park, Co | Savannah and Leslie

I had so much fun photographing Savannah and Leslie for a sunrise portrait session at Rocky Mountain National Park near Estes Park, Colorado. These two have been friends for what feels like forever, so it only made sense that Leslie would come along to celebrate this moment in Savannah’s life, her final stretch living in Colorado. Our focus was on creating empowering portraits that not only captured Savannah’s Colorado story but also the bond these two share.

We met up at sunrise, ready to explore RMNP together and create some Colorado magic. The light, the setting, and their energy were all exactly what you want for a meaningful, empowering session.

Women-Owned Style & Beauty in the Colorado Wilderness

As a bonus, this shoot was elevated by a team of amazing Colorado women-owned businesses that brought so much beauty and artistry to the day.

Hair styling throughout the session was handled by Cecelia Kirby of Cecelia Hair, who created looks that were both effortless and stunning in the wilderness setting. Outfits were thoughtfully chosen from Ida and Moon, a desert-inspired vintage lifestyle wear brand that gave the shoot such a unique touch. And of course, I was especially excited to photograph pieces by Hiouchi Jewels, created by Sarah out of Evergreen, Colorado. I’m a huge fan of locally made jewelry, especially when it’s this gorgeous, and I’ll admit I left the session as the proud new owner of a few of her pieces!

What Portrait Photography Means to Me

Over the years, I’ve had the chance to photograph everything from weddings and engagements to concerts, red carpets, and even nonprofit work and school gardens. And while each genre is wildly different, the constant thread is always the people, the humans behind the stories. That’s what I love most.

This session was no exception. Photographing these strong, creative women in the heart of Colorado’s most iconic park reminded me why I do this work. The laughter, the stories, the sunrise, the sparkle of jewelry, the wind through vintage fabrics, it all came together in the most beautiful way.
