Sunset Engagement Session at Imperial Sand Dunes | Gaby and Josh

I can’t love a couple harder than when they want to do something amazing, and Gaby and Josh’s idea of amazing includes driving 8 hours round trip to the middle of nowhere to take their engagement photos at the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area, sometimes just known as the Glamis sand dunes. Known for being the largest sand dunes in the state, they were formed by windblown sands of ancient Lake Cahuilla. Extending for more than 45 miles, with dunes reaching heights of 300 feet above the desert floor. I have to say the whole experience was out of this world, especially based on the many movies that have graced the area. Including but definitely not limited to the original Stargate, Resident Evil : Extinction, and Star Wars : Return of the Jedi! It was so much fun getting to spend the day with Gaby and Josh, and the pictures tell a story of so much love between these two high school sweethearts. “Josh and Gaby are high school sweethearts. When Josh was a sophomore he finally had the guts to talk to Gaby (with a little help from his friends). When Josh and Gaby first started talking, their friends gave them silly nicknames, Josh being a “giraffe” and Gaby being an “elephant. One day Josh decided to tell Gaby a story, which ended with, “the giraffe asked the elephant to be his girlfriend.” Gaby was in awe the way Josh had officially asked to be his girlfriend. From then on Josh and Gaby would experience high school, college, and young adult life together. Josh decided it was only appropriate to pick up where the giraffe and elephant all started in order to ask Gaby to be his wife. Josh had one-of-a-kind characters drawn and put together a book that would illustrate Gaby and Josh’s life together. On their 10-year anniversary, Josh gave the book to Gaby. Gaby was already impressed with Josh’s efforts and creativity only to find that on the very last page of the book the giraffe was holding a ring asking the elephant to be his wife. ”
