Destination Wedding at El Dorado Casitas Royale | Jojo and Becca
Sure, a lot of people planned their weddings for 2/22/2022. But this wedding wasn’t like any other! An epic three-day vacation at El Dorado Casitas Royale in Cancún, Mexico, made Jojo and Becca’s fun-filled bash a weekend to remember for more reasons than just the date!
This pair even got engaged in a unique way—right before a Category 4 hurricane! On September 13, 2020 (13 is Becca’s favorite number, so Jojo had to pick that day!), the couple was enjoying a visit to Destin, FL, when the skies began to darken. But that didn’t deter Jojo! She asked Becca to go outside and take a picture with her in front of the huge waves rolling in. After some coaxing, Jojo got her outside, and before she knew it, Jojo was down on one knee proposing with a photographer nearby, capturing it all!
The beach wasn’t the most welcoming on their engagement day, so they decided for a second try on the beach for their wedding day! “We both love the beach, so a beach wedding was a no-brainer with us!” they said.
They chose the El Dorado Casitas Royale for its all-inclusive package and planned a three-day vacation for all their guests. On Sunday, they had a cheese and wine tasting, and on Monday, they celebrated with a Mexican Fiesta Rehearsal Dinner, complete with custom margaritas! The guests were suntanned and relaxed by the time the big Tuesday wedding rolled around.
The day started with Becca and Jojo getting ready in separate locations. Jojo wore a custom leather belt from Diamond Bar Leather and a belt buckle with her last name from Molly’s Custom Silver, as well as a Texas cowboy hat and boots with the Texas flag on them. Becca wore a fitted, lacy dress with a long train from Lang’s Bridal.
I love when couples invite me to take a more active role in their celebrations, especially when it means delivering the last notes before “I do.” But Jojo took the whole “love letter” concept to the next level when she gave me a journal to hand to Becca before the ceremony. It was filled with not just one but many, many love letters Jojo had been writing to Becca for the past year! Talk about a romantic start to a wedding day!
The ceremony, held in a secluded gazebo on the beach, was emotional for everyone. Jojo told Becca, “I promise I will always be your person, no matter what. Until we are old and wrinkly, until we take our last final picture.” Which, of course, had their photographer brushing away tears. And when Becca responded with, “I gave you my heart a long time ago, but today makes it official—you’re stuck,” the rest of the guests had tears in their eyes, too.
The post-ceremony photoshoot was another opportunity for Jojo and Becca to show off their personalities for the camera. Down on the beach by the water, they busted some killer dance moves, which filled their gallery with life and energy.
The reception afterward was one incredible party, with the help of music by Seleccto DJ! From the light-up glow-sticks to the hilarious lap dances to the drinks flowing faster than they could finish them, the party rocked on. Multiple guests even jumped into the pool!
Becca said about Jojo, “My favorite thing about Jojo is the way she makes me feel like the only girl in the world, even in a room full of people.” And Jojo said about Becca, “she makes me feel safe and at home, no matter where we’re at.” And I’d say they definitely felt at home celebrating in Cancún!
