Offbeat Wedding at The Saguaro Palm Springs in Palm Springs, Ca | Jennifer Lourie

I’m not surprised to say that these two and their dog Snacks were featured on Rock n Roll Bride!

Words don’t even get close to describing how amazing Ali and Mike’s wedding at The Saguaro Palm Springs in Palm Springs, Ca was, but I’ll try and give it a shot! First off, this venue is rainbow colored- you heard me, rainbow. The carpeting, the windows, the poles, and all the fencing around this desert venue are painted different colors. You can only imagine how exciting this is for a photographer that loves color! On top of that, Palm Springs, Ca never fails to be awesome, with it’s ubiquitous palm trees and bright blue sky. Pair that with a couple who loves having fun, their dog name Snacks, and some tiki themed shoes; and you have a party waiting to happen.

Ali and Mike knew they always wanted a wedding in the Southern California desert area, calling it their “getaway" whenever they had time off; and were lucky enough to celebrate their first anniversary at The Saguaro Palm Springs. “Also, let's be honest, the hotel kind of did all the decorating for me. That place is wonderful,” Ali said of their incredible wedding venue. That’s putting it nicely, since a wedding at The Saguaro Palm Springs in Palm Springs, Ca is essentially beautiful in every corner. We did their first look in the courtyard, surrounded by brightly colored rooms, and took off to a palm tree filled deserted parking lot a couple of blocks away for their portraits.

“Anyone who knows Mike and me well knows that we like to take the “artistic” approach to things, since we are both artists. We both knew we didn’t want the traditional wedding with the lace and the mason jars and the flower crowns. So we decided to pick something slightly more eclectic. Even though aspects of our wedding are traditional, we still want to have fun with the whole setting of it and not take it all so seriously. In the end, that’s what this day is all about - celebrating love and having a fun, drunken time with all your friends who came out to party with you! Throw in a pool and a rainbow courtyard and we’re set!”

I love how Ali and Mike summarized their wedding day at The Saguaro Palm Springs in Palm Springs, Ca above, because that is exactly what happened. These two originally met online out in Chicago (Yes, my whole heart was happy this entire wedding!), and moved out to California not long after. Their whole wedding day was everything they wanted in the end, complete with an incredible party paired with the desert sunset in the background- and of course Snacks, their dog, along for every step of the way.

“I really didn’t want to do this at first, but I’m sort of excited for our first dance. Because Mike is admittedly a terrible dancer, we decided we should take a few private lessons at a dance studio to prepare for the hundred sets of eyes that would be watching our every move. Our instructor ended up choreographing a dance just for us and it’s really cute!”
