Urban Downtown Omaha Engagement Session | Kori and Connor

When Kori and Connor reached out about their wedding, I was more stoked than normal. Not only because I love all of my couples and the incredible humans I get to work with, but because these two gems were getting married in Nebraska! While I’ve lived out here for a couple of years; I’ve continued to advertise out of state and it’s rare that I get to cross paths with fellow Nebraskans.

We decided to do their engagement session out in downtown Omaha, even though these two had just moved out of state. After a few reschedules due to everyone’s crazy schedules (Connor is an epic football player at (insert college), and after winning their season there were a few celebrations to be had!) we were finally able to meet up in the winter before their summer wedding. With zero location plans, we descended upon the downtown area looking for great light and urban backdrops.

These two things were not hard to find, and the love between Kori and Connor shown in that midwest setting sun. Kori and Connor are high school sweethearts, and my favorite thing about their story is that Kori doesn’t even remember their first meeting! Connor share that “We met at noon recess in 7th grade. I bricked the hell of my basketball and it rolled to Kori. She wouldn't give me my ball back until I told her my name and Kori doesn't even remember that to this day. I had a crush on her even back then.” I’m pretty sure it doesn’t get better than that.

We ended our session sharing ice cream at a local joint in town. While the two sat on a bench, they recounted how ice cream has always played an important part in their relationship. Which makes perfect sense, since it is Kori’s absolute favorite. Even on the day that Connor proposed, they grabbed ice cream before heading to the picturesque Sunken Gardens in Lincoln, Ne. Besides them both blacking out with their shared romantic experience, Connor recalls getting way way too much ice cream, and legitimately not knowing what to do with it when the time came to pull the ring out! It obviously all ended well (although probably not for that ice cream), because these two are tying the knot at the Creekside Event Barn in Roca, Ne later this year.

I always love getting to hang out with my couples before their wedding day, especially if we can make some engagement session magic together! Check out a few recent engagement sessions below!
