Rocky Mountain National Park Winter Session | Alyssa May and Michael
When videography team Alyssa May and Michael of LaBanca Productions reached out about needing some new headshots, I was absolutely honored. I had the chance to first work with these two back for Becca and Mike’s gorgeous fall wedding, and was blown away by their communal and caring nature. Over the years we’ve gotten to be fast friends, and I was over the moon when we had a chance to team back up for Amanda and Brian in downtown Chicago last year.
Fast forward to now, and LaBanca Productions was looking for something fun, something fresh, and something them. So It only made sense to take this Indiana based company to the snow covered Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. Alyssa May had had the opportunity to travel here once before, and fell in love with the sprawling mountains and grandeur of how not flat it was. RMNP is one of my favorite places to hang out (and of course photograph gorgeous couples for their engagement sessions), so I was absolutely down for this winter adventure.
Starting off on the frozen lake bed of Sheep Lakes, we were graced with a dramatic view of Horseshoe Park. Named for the bighorn sheep that come off the hills for nutrients, it was a bit blustery to see any wildlife, but still an incredible view for all to partake in. We proceeded to travel as far as we could up Trail Ridge Road, until we were faced with winter closures. While this may have been a minor setback for some, Alyssa May and Michael were up for adventuring, and we located a nearby rock for some canoodling.
With just a bit of climbing involved, we were treated to snow capped mountain views; and truly reminded of the gorgeousness of Rocky Mountain National Park in the winter. We ended this fun day in the snow, literally, knee deep in the snow. Alyssa May and Michael continued their braveness, wading a few feet off the path to a snow covered log. Any winter session with a fellow creative would not be complete without tossing some snow at their heads, or without getting in front of the camera for a quick shot with assistant and fiancé Robin.
LaBanca Productions and I get to team back up for another wedding in Chicago later this year, and as always I will be so excited to see their faces and share in an afternoon of laughs. Thank you so much you two for the adventure!
