Happy 28th Birthday Jennifer Lourie!
Today is my birthday, and not just any birthday, that weird phenomenon of birthdays where I am 28 on February 28! So I thought it was only fitting to do a quick blog post about some of my favorite things. I know there’s a nice little professional synopsis on the actual about page, so I wanted to shamelessly slam this page with pictures of my favorite places, and some random facts. I try to share a little bit more real life on my Instagram page, so if you follow along on there you probably already know some of this!
I unashamedly and happily collect Funko Pop Toys. They even follow the Marie Kondo rules of life, as each and every one of them brings me unparalleled amounts of joy. I think of them as little life rewards,
“Hey hey, finished those taxes? Go get yourself a new Funko you successful girl you!”
“Whaaaaaaat? 7 days of exercise, good diet and 8 glasses of water?! That new Disney funko is calling your name!”
I had a priceless piece of artwork by Joey Chou framed, mounted, and hung in my house. Yes, yes that is Spock from Star Trek riding Blue from Jurassic World holding Loki’s scepter in the swamp of Dagobah with Luke Skywalkers X wing ship crashed in the background.
That just about describes a large portion of all things I love. Add an Alien fighting a Tremor in there and I would probably frame that thing in gold. I’m a major movie buff, and my favorites are all memorized and quoted in times of need. You might say that I’m a .... clever girl.
This one is pretty well known, but I have a necessary, and absolutely validated love of Disneyland and all things Disney. The love is strong enough to take up characters in my tiny Instagram profile, right up there with dinosaurs. I also have a watercolor Simba tattoo on my left arm to remind me that life is short, and there’s no reason to fully grow up (ahem and a brand new Compsognathus tattoo on my right). I’ve been there for every birthday since I was 15, and my friends joke that whenever I get married it’ll probably be the location of my bachelorette party. I casually collect the pins, I not so casually collect the Funkos, and I still have my original Kingdom Hearts saved file from 2002.
No ‘about me’ blog post would be complete without mentioning my slightly overweight but otherwise perfect Siberian Husky Kaia. Along with the overall wearing, tractor driving side of my life- the 100+ cattle ranch my family owns out in Nebraska.
And finally, this is not so much a fact, but more an introduction into some awesome pictures. I love to travel. Everywhere, seriously.... let’s go. I joke about it, but you don’t realize it’s not a joke until I show up at your doorstep in Sweden after meeting you a month ago to go see the aurora borealis and make some cinnamon rolls. That’s a true story by the way. Shoutout to Robin for not murdering me in my sleep, AND for getting my passport back when it got left on the train. In conclusion, I’m a giant Disney loving, world traveling tattooed nerd; that loves taking pictures of not only every beautiful person (and animal) I meet, but this incredible world around us- and today I turned 28!
