Trail Ridge Road Engagement Session in Rocky Mountain National Park, Co | Shayla and Dave

After Shayla and Dave insisted on climbing mountain sides at Bear Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park, Co, hanging out at 12,000 feet at the top of Trail Ridge Rd for the end of their engagement session was a breeze. Pun intended, because we were all frozen within minutes from the wind! The tragic wildfires lately have made sunsets around our beautiful state of Colorado incredibly hit or miss- and we were so lucky to get a clear evening on top of the mountain.

Trail Ridge Rd covers 48 miles, and is known as the “highway to the sky.” During our engagement session, we traveled up past the evergreens, and found the picturesque tundra- complete with freezing breeze, and a spectacular alpine wildflower show. It definitely was worth the cold to see what Horace Albright, director of the National Park Service, in 1931 claimed was “the whole sweep of the Rockies before you in all directions."

It was an unforgettable experience to get to spend the afternoon photographing these two adventurous lovers for their engagement session, and their wedding at The Abbey on Lake Geneva in Wisconsin could not be sooner.
