La Casa del Camino Wedding in Laguna Beach, Ca | Trisha and Matthias

Trisha and Matthias got married not once, but twice, and for a couple as special as these two I can’t imagine them doing it any other way. Flying half way around the world to honor Trisha’s heritage in 2018, the two were officially married on November 19th in Trisha’s hometown in India, Noida. “On my wedding day, my mom said “it makes me so happy that your wedding has followed all the rituals of my wedding”, and the two were able to have the “intimate ceremony (they) wanted, complete with all the unique and colorful rituals of an Indian wedding.” Now back in California, I could not be more honored to get to photograph these two in all their wedding glory. Matthias actually went to the same college I did, so it’s always a little extra special to be entrusted by another photographer to capture their day.

La Casa del Camino in Laguna Beach, California is the perfect setting for two beach lovers like these, and it definitely did not disappoint with it’s sprawling ocean views. Built in 1929, the visionaries wanted a hotel that not just provided somewhere to rest, but also somewhere for the community to gather. “When we first went to see it, we were both over the moon about it. The ocean has been an important theme and backdrop throughout the various stages of our relationship and our individual lives as well.” Getting ready by the light of the sunrise, we were lucky with an amazing day for them to tie the knot on, with rolling clouds in the background and no rain in sight.

Not a single moment in the day had a dry eye; starting from the moment Trisha got dressed, straight down to their first dance in the lobby. What tied the whole day together for me as a photographer though, was our session on the beach after all of the festivities. With two boutonnieres being squished to death by so many hugs, we wrangled one together and headed down the path to the beach. Perfect weather, perfect couple, and some perfect light created some perfect moments. But what no one could have predicted was a sweet couple walking our way on the beach.

”Okay guys, now let's look as cute as these two do!", I shouted, above the crashing waves. The couple stopped, and looked at Trisha and Matthias on their wedding day, and said, "Do you know why we look this cute? Because it is our 45th year anniversary. It must be a lucky day."

Sometimes you just get that perfect moment, of two people walking hand in hand 45 years later, and two people walking hand in hand; on the first day of the start of the rest of their lives.

I absolutely love an early morning brunch wedding in California. Check out some amazing more California weddings below!
