Cloudy Engagement session at Treasure Island Beach | Jordyn and Matt

When I had my first phone call with Jordyn and Matt, I knew that they were two humans I was going to love working with. They were on a last minute vacation with their family, shouting above the background noise to schedule an engagement session at Treasure Island Beach in Laguna Hills. I love this place for all the incredible tide pools, and background diversity. (It even makes a great spot for a few maternity photos, as I’ve found out before!) Even though we were not blessed with a typical California sunset, Jordyn and Matt lit up the area with their shining personalities, and obvious love for each other.

After having the sweetest meet-cute story through their love of line-dancing and music, these two found out that the world is actually very small! Not only did they grow up in the same city, they had even attended the same church at separate times! With such a small world, their friends and family met very early on, so they could line-dance the night away at Moonshine Beach together. After 10 glorious months together, they knew they were absolutely meant to be, and Matt proposed to Jordyn during a spontaneous trip to San Diego together. Although not so spontaneous, as their friends and family were waiting for the two to celebrate in Mission Beach thereafter. Jordyn told me that the entire time all she could get out was “wow wow wow and this is crazy!”.

After wondering around the gardens above Treasure Island Beach in some casual clothing, these two did a quick outfit change, and we ran to the beach whey they frolicked, dipped, kissed, climbed, and ran, doing every action a storybook couple could accomplish in such a beautiful location. My favorite part of the entire session (besides these two just being so so sweet) was when they jumped into the water and were hit by some epic waves. Although it is easily tied with them practicing their first dance on the beach, a choreographed number to represent their location of meeting at Moonshine Beach.

I absolutely cannot wait for their upcoming wedding at Coto Valley Country Club in Trabuco Canyon, where they will once again get to reunite all of their friends and family. I’ve gotten to shoot a wedding there before, and the venue is filled with love and personality, just like these two are. I asked what they were most excited about for the big day, and Jordyn say, “We are so in love and ready to be married!”, and you just know a wedding like that is going to be incredible!

Beach engagement sessions are always so much fun (and occasionally wet!) See more below!
