Spanish inspired Carondelet House night Wedding in Los Angeles, Ca | Kassidy and Andrew

California Wedding Day featured these two in all of their awesome glory!
Kassidy and Andrew were married at the Carondelet House in Los Angeles, Ca, and the whole night was full of beautiful unique details that I swoon over every time I think about it. To start with, Kassidy and Andrew decided to have an evening wedding, starting the actual celebration just as the sun was setting. Their ceremony also started and ended with readings from "The Awesome Book of Love," which mentions dinosaurs, which I am an absolute sucker for. I had to look it up after the fact just to be sure the amazingness I though I had heard.
The whole things was also Spanish inspired, a theme that expanded into the Cuatro Caminos Arts & Flamenco group that entertained both the wedding guests during the ceremony and cocktail hour, but also taught dances. The whole evening also had a giant focus on food, with not only a pizza truck arriving at the end of the night, but homemade salsa as their wedding favors. Our wedding was based around my husband's Spanish background. When we walked through the venue it reminded us of a Spanish home, with blue tiles, fountains and wooden floors. We took the elegance of the building and added our own flair.

Our ceremony was something we both knew had to be uniquely our own. Upon arrival guests were offered glasses of sparkling wine. This set the mood for the ceremony straight from the start. We wanted people to be able to relax and really feel a part of the moment. The ceremony music was played by two flamenco guitarists, Marcus Nand and Andres Vadin. We opened [and ended] with a reading from "The Awesome Book of Love," by Dallas Clayton. This was a book that my husband gifted to me several years prior as a valentine's day present.

During this time Spanish inspired tray pass was offered to all our guests. We didn't want to do a sit down dinner because we felt this isolated guests and infringed on the socializing part of the celebration.

Our wedding favors were home made pepper jelly. We grow pepper plants and make jelly year round so this was a must to include.

My goal for the reception was that no one would be hungry, thirsty or bored. The reception opened with a flamenco performance performed by Cuatro Caminos Arts & Flamenco.

We hired a Tarot card reader who I had met at a previous event to provide readings. This kept non-dancers entertained and left many people leaving our wedding with their own deeper experience. The back dinning room had cards and board games set up, in case people really wanted to sit and relax.

The final detail was providing guests with glow-in-the-dark glasses for a midnight dance party. We wanted something to help keep the party going and in our younger years we would purchase these glasses for festivals. This was a homage to our early years!

My husband and I are pizza lovers. There was no way the night wasn't going to have pizza and lots of it.

The most important lesson I learned from planning my own wedding was the freedom of making it my own. When we became engaged I was overwhelmed by the checklists and bridal rituals. I felt like maybe I wasn't meant to have a wedding and eloping was greatly considered. Then after many talks we discovered that a wedding is whatever you want it to be and that possibility is endless. In the end it was the wedding of my dreams, that I didn't even know existed. My advice to other Offbeat Brides, is to allow yourself to be a bride. Oddly enough those bridal newsletters, blogs, magazines, and reality shows do work. Even though we never recreated what we read or watched it inspired us to create something new. So allow yourself to get wrapped up in the wedding process and when it unfolds it will be something beautiful, great and uniquely you.
